The Arem Foundation is a community-driven organization based in the Arusha region of Northern Tanzania, officially registered under Tanzanian law. With a strong commitment to creating positive change, the foundation focuses on a range of impactful initiatives, including training, leadership development, research, women empowerment, environmental conservation, and volunteer engagement. Through its programs, the Arem Foundation strives to equip individuals with essential skills, promote sustainable practices, and provide opportunities for growth and leadership. By fostering a sense of responsibility and active participation, the foundation aims to address local challenges and create lasting, positive transformations within the community, contributing to both social, economic and environmental well-being. Through volunteer opportunities, donors and collaborative efforts, the Arem Foundation continues to build a brighter and more inclusive future for all.

The Arem Foundation offers an opportunity to volunteer in MEDICAL PROGRAMS,  SCHOOL TEACHING, and YOUNG GIRLS EMPOWERMENT. We also oversees a children’s center, in Arusha.

The children’s center provides a nurturing environment, offering educational support, meals, and resources. Through workshops and community support, it empowers both children and caregivers, fostering compassion and inclusivity.

We also offer sewing project to equips young girls with tailoring skills, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.

Additionally, the foundation promotes community health and hygiene in primary schools, focusing on sanitation facilities and menstrual hygiene education. By providing guidance on sanitary towel usage, it enables girls to manage their menstrual health confidently, ensuring uninterrupted education and fostering community openness.

Where to Volunteer in Tanzania

Tanzania, situated in East Africa, boasts considerable size, providing ample opportunities for volunteering. Currently, all our volunteer initiatives are community-focused and exclusively located in Arusha. Options include volunteering at our Children Center, Girls Sewing Project, community primary school hygiene programs, Medical Centers or nearby orphanage centers and schools.

How Can I volunteer in Tanzania ?

If you're interested in volunteering in Tanzania, you can find a program that suits your budget. Your contribution will be a great help to the people of Tanzania, as it is one of the poorest countries in the world.

Who Can Volunteer with Us?

We expect certain skills from our international volunteers, thus certain requirements must be met during the application process. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, although some children's projects such as day-cares and orphanages may make exceptions for those under 18 with special requests. Additionally, volunteers must have basic English skills in order to communicate with locals, as Tanzania is a member of the Commonwealth and English is one of the primary languages of communication among educated people.
