Volunteering Program

The Arem Foundation offers a medical volunteering program ideal for medical professionals and students interested in volunteering in Tanzania. They provide unique opportunities in healthcare, including internships for pre-med, nursing, and medical students looking to volunteer abroad.

Arem Foundation recruits and assigns doctors, nurses, surgeons, midwives, and other medical professionals to work alongside local practitioners in Tanzania. Volunteers’ roles range from assisting local doctors with regular treatments to collaborating with rural health workers to enhance sustainable health and nutrition practices through dietary improvements and supplements.

The hospitals and clinics offer basic facilities, and the quality of treatments may not meet standards found in developed countries. Volunteers should expect to encounter challenging cases and are encouraged to maintain professional detachment from patients. Typically, working hours are scheduled on a weekly basis, with most volunteers working Monday through Friday and having weekends free. However, a break in the mid-week maybe available.

Project Description

The Arem Foundation is dedicated to enhancing healthcare conditions for both children and adults in Tanzania through its medical volunteering initiative. They collaborate closely with small health clinics and large government hospitals across Tanzania, all aimed at improving healthcare delivery and promoting preventive health education among underserved populations.

For current students or recent graduates, Arem Foundation offers medical volunteer programs and internships that not only bolster resumes/CVs but also provide valuable experience in assisting individuals in developing regions. This opportunity is particularly beneficial for those pursuing careers in healthcare.

Volunteers with professional credentials or those currently enrolled in medical or nursing school are encouraged to apply. The specific tasks assigned will depend on individual capabilities, ensuring that patient health and safety remain paramount throughout the volunteering experience.
